What are positive thoughts?
"Positive thinking" is defined as conscious, non-judgmental awareness of the present moment. It involves a calm, non-judgmental, moment-to-moment awareness of bodily sensations, perceptions, emotional states, thoughts, and imaginations.
To practice positive thinking, let your mind return to your body and live in the present moment. Sometimes, you may notice a lot of thoughts and ideas flying around in your mind. Many people believe that being mindful means keeping your mind free from thoughts and maintaining a blank state. However, this is a misconception. The mind cannot be completely empty for more than a few seconds—thoughts will inevitably arise. The more you try to suppress your thoughts, the more pressure you put on yourself, which can have the opposite effect.
Positive thinking is not about having no thoughts or ideas; it’s about being aware of the thoughts and ideas you have and observing them without judgment.
